january has to be possibly the worst month of the year, with its freezing temperatures, lack of sunshine, never-ending rain (if you're living in Britain.) i myself have been suffering as of late with my mental health, so this weather surely does not help. however, recently we were blessed with a most gorgeous day. a day visited by the sun and a subtle sea breeze.
we decided to take a spin out to one of my favourite towns along the coastline in Kent, Whitstable. it's a quaint little town, full of independent, quirky shops and good seafood. famous for its oysters, the harbours have market stalls suitable for all ages. then in front of the pebble beach there are many beach huts... seaside picturesque.
after spending a great amount of time sitting on the pier, looking out beyond the sea, we went for cod and chips in the popular seaside pub, Old Neptune. inside we were welcomed by many dogs and their owners, so it pretty much was heaven.
it felt great to get the cobwebs blown away and to feel all refreshed, with the help of the seaweed scent and clean air. but there are ways to bring a little sunshine into your life. for me it's colour and light. windows open wide, a lit candle and a vase of vibrant flowers.
much love,
kayla
