peace of mind

May 26, 2017

escaping is not always a bad thing

unfortunately in this day and age, we have forgotten the benefits of taking walks among nature.
it is such a highly effective way to calm your mind and to help you to think.

we are all so used to the hustle and bustle of everyday life that we forget that it's important to take the time to think. we run through lists of what errands we must carry out, what personal achievements we long to succeed in, what hopes & dreams we one day wish will come true. planning ahead in the hope of making it just a little easier on ourselves in the future.

it's natural for us to worry. some of us worse than others. it is after all one of my adverse flaws to overthink things and worry for the future. it is only until recently where i've learnt to let things go and attempt to live in the present.

a simple skill such as mindfulness meditation can help to overcome or help to comply with stress. easing the mind through breathing, distracting the mind with something more so happy.

i always feel cheerful with reading in the park, it puts my mind at rest with a pleasant distraction or even merely listening to music while gazing up at the soaring birds in the high sky.

i spent my evening yesterday lying out in the park in the blazing sunshine, listening to 'first aid kit' while just feeling content with watching the birds and planes, taking deep breaths, feeling less claustrophobic to the wide, open sky, as well as making a list of things that i am fortunate to have...

- friends that are there for me
-  a family that healthy
- my own bedroom to sleep in
- a boyfriend that loves me even when i'm at my worst
- even naturally the air in my lungs, my two functional legs to walk with, my senses to explore what's around me... knowing that not everyone in the world is lucky enough in having their health makes me feel grateful with the sound body and mind that i do possess.

be strong to allow only for the positive thoughts to enter the sub-conscious mind, that way it will help you to gain peace of mind.

travel

discovering - newcastle upon tyne

May 22, 2017

Grey Street

so this week i got the chance to explore Newcastle Upon Tyne for the first time.
it is perhaps my favourite city yet, alongside London and Edinburgh.

The Angel of the North - Gateshead in Tyne and Wear, England

only having spent a few days there, i managed to see a couple of markets such as 'grainger market' and 'tynemouth market'.

visited intu Eldon Sqaure, grainger town, the wondrous city of durham, st. mary's lighthouse in whitley bay and tynemouth. went to the quirky, old fashioned tyneside cinema.

Discovered a few museums as well, such as the 'great north museum: handcock', 'centre for life'  where i sat so happily under the stars and planets in the planetarium. then finally perhaps my favourite museum yet to date, 'beamish museum'. beamish is a world famous open air museum, telling the story of life in north east england during the 1820's, 1900's & 1940's.

tynemouth market

durham cathedral - first two films of harry potter were filmed here

Scotswood Bridge - just a pretty old picture that i came across

definitely worth the visit to newcastle & gateshead. a place of many hidden gems and many discoveries to be found. come august i'll be back again finding new places to awe upon. if anyone has any must-see spots please don't hesitate to drop them below in the comment bar.

May 07, 2017

at my favourite seaside in the west of ireland

hello everyone!

now to you new people of the blogsphere, i will be going along to the name of 'Kayla', my preferred nickname.

here I'll bring you alongside me in my daily struggles, adventures, new discoveries and hopefully a little bit more. I'll be sharing with you, my love for finding new places, getting lost within nature, music and books.

i won't just be telling you about my successes in life, but my failures too. then hopefully that way, I'll be able to connect with some of you lovelies, in advising me or simply just telling me your thoughts.

i look forward to reading your thoughts and to hearing your stories.

much love,
